Where are people buying the street legal moped/scooters I keep seeing around town?

I have seen several popping up lately all over The Woodlands. I would like to buy one for myself and son to use around town. Especially after my last gas fill up.(OUCH!!) I have found some great deals online but am a bit leery to buy something without physically seeing and test driving at that price.

I bought an lime green electric one for my daughter on Ebay and it’s awesome. I paid about $1000 with shipping but it’s been about 2 years.

I’ve seen a Vespa, but I’ve also seen a few other models. One guy was on the tollway yesterday, and he was actually managing 65, yes on a scooter!

I heard about this place called the ScooterSmith, but it isn’t near you (Montrose area). Ditto with Apollo Scooters.

I checked their web sites, and these things aren’t cheap either. They start at around $4k! That’d take an awfully long time to pay back solely based on gas savings. I think I’d save more planning out my shopping trips.

Some of those go for about $1600 to start and can go up to $10,000 custom made. It takes about $10.00 to fill up about once a week.
