It is very convenient for people who cannot pedal, due to some knee issues. I decided to check it out myself. Even though I had a wobbly start and could feel every bump, just like in a bicycle. My pride and joy! This is the product of 5 years work to build the ‘best’ electric folding bike. This is a real humdinger!! The motor kit adds just 12 pounds to a bike (5 pounds for the motor, 7 for the battery and controller). It does 15 mph and tows my 190 pound carcass up 14% slopes.

This is in my opinion the best option for those considering an ebike and rather than buy a prebuilt scooter looking thing I highly recommend to get a good bike and this kit and do the conversion, you will be much happier with the results.

This is my homemade mini chopper. It was a budget build.. that should explain why I skimped on some parts. It runs and rides very very well. It goes pretty fast too- I had it up to 50 mph (GPS verified). Don’t hesitate to ask any questions.

The motor is mounted on the bike forks, and successfully drives the wheel. Now, I’m going to mount tension screws to keep it tight on the chain, and I’ll also smooth over some of the metal. The next part of the project will include new handlebars (probably tall and retro) with a fabricated front and part of the body in metal and fiberglass to hold all the batteries and guts.

I am looking to rent a motor scooter, moped, electric/motorized bike in the downtown charleston area. Meanwhile, I am 18 years old and I am looking for the cheapest rental service possible. To be more clear i just want a way to get around the town for a day or two on something that is faster than a bicycle but not quite as fast or expensive as a motorcycle. Help me out yo.
